Upon The Sun

from Stranger Than Fiction by Reaper

/

about

Upon The Sun is the darkest song on the disc. A song about sex addiction and not being able to free yourself from the vex used to feel less alone. The moment of brightness in the middle section is to represent your need to treat both yourself and others as people and not as things to pass time. It acts as the first real moment of lucidity in the album.

lyrics

Inject the acid, wire in the vein
Wall off the world beyond and you pull it back again
Gorge on the ecstasy, teeth sink to skin
Just another kiss of death and elate me, let me in

This trend is fatal
You know it well
Are you addicted to the flesh?

Breath on my neck I need it again
Lust must be fed to stay alive
I'll blind this faithless spectre
Must keep my eyes Upon The Sun

Exhausted, breathless, chained to the wall
Svadhisthana leads, I beckon to its call
Seek palpitation, seek affirmation
Tell yourself it's standing tall even when you're on your knees

Take what you need and fly away
It's home
It's hell
It's cold
Resurrect my ability
(Self control is the way to feeling alive)
Resurrect my empathy
(Self control is the way to feeling alive)
It's light
